Candace Needs Your Help for Surgeries

UPDATE
Candace Chantel Battiste was born on June 18, 1999 with Giant Congenital Nevus, a very rare skin disorder.

One in more than 200,000 babies are born with a nevus of this considerable size located on the face. To date, Candace has had nine surgical procedures to remove the potentially cancerous skin from her face. This precious child is in need of many additional surgeries to complete the removal of the remaining thick, hairy skin and to correct disfigurement of her eye, nose, and mouth caused by earlier surgeries.

UPDATE

Due to aggressive fund raising campaigns and generous donations, Candace will be undergoing the next surgery on July 29, 2008 in Chicago.*

Candace is scheduled for the next round of surgeries to begin in June 2008 by a team of outstanding surgeons at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Thereafter, two surgeries a year are tentatively scheduled until she turns thirteen years of age.

The family needs more than $10,000 per surgery to continue young Candace's surgery schedule. The goal is to raise $277,839 to defray costs of the hospital operating room fees which are partially covered by the family's health insurance.

Anesthesiologist fees, travel expenses from New York to Chicago, and accommodations for Candace's ten day post-operative stay in Chicago are not covered.

This family is in desperate need of your help.
